I make pumpkin seed flour all the time. Use the green colored raw pumpkin seeds not the big white ones and use a coffee/spice grinder. I also make sunflower seed flour this way. Buy the raw sunflower seeds as well. It substitutes well in any nut flour recipe.

I too found Ali's posts about the chocolate cake and cherry muffins made with the pumpkin seed flour and they look so yummy. This is such a great alternative for grain free diets.

She has a link in the cherrry muffin recipe post for order info but I wasn't able to open it for some reason. I wrote to Omega to see if it can be ordered because I don't see it availble on the website.

anyone else have luck ordering it?

What a great website!

I am totally grain free - gluten free was just not enough. I have bad reactions to rice and corn as well - the most popular gluten free grains.

I am very happy I've decided to eliminate all grains from my life. There are so many wonderful grain free foods out there. A website which really made me take the leap to grain free eating (from just being merely gluten free), is www.grainfreeliving.com. I love this website because it is full of great information, recipes and there is no agenda - no special diets, supplements, etc. pushed on you like most of the grain free books do- the information is just focused on grain free eating with YOU deciding how you want to follow it. Just thought I'd share.

Thanks for a great blog!

I love learning about new gluten-free possibilities. I have never heard of pumpkin seed flour but have cooked with pumpkin seeds when making mole and, oh, they are yummy! Can't wait to get my hands on this when it comes out. Thanks for sharing!

Also, if you are trying to add more protein, you might consider adding Chia Seeds to your diet. They are high in protein and can be sprinkled on anything. Here is a little information about them. http://grainfreerecipes.com/2009/04/how-to-use-chia-seeds/

Thanks for the comment and the link!

I actually used a Magic Bullet blender. I normally use my Vita-Mix, but for small amounts it is nice to use a smaller appliance. I think a coffee grinder would work nicely. I'll be over later to check out your site - it sounds great!

im a vegetarian (and gluten free) so really try to add as much protein to food as i can--this flour sounds amazing!
just wondering, when you say you ground the seeds...did you use a coffee grinder?
i ground my own oat flour in a food processor but next time i think i'll do it in small amts with my coffee grinder.

this site is great--it's reminding me i've got to get the quinoa and amaranth out of the closet and start using them! i'm putting you on my link list and am glad i found this place. thanks!
